PLYWALL® is a post and panel system consisting of prefabricated, preservative treated wood framed panels supported between preservative treated Anthony Forest Products’ PPG® posts. Prefabricated preservative treated wood framed panels are 8, 12, or 16 feet wide, covered on both sides with preservative treated exterior-rated 4’x 8’ Texture 1-11 plywood. The panels are typically 2 ¾ inches thick and are secured to the posts within channels created by pressure treated 4” x 4” cleats which are spiked or lagged parallel to the posts.

Pressure treated Anthony Forest Products’ PPG® posts support the panels at exposed heights to 24 feet (30 feet can be obtained under limited circumstances). Posts are embedded in the ground to a depth of roughly half the exposed height of the barrier and backfilled with crushed stone or concrete. Anthony Forest Products’ PPG® posts are much stronger and uptake preservatives far better, providing a much more durable, longer lasting barrier.

PLYWALL® is shipped complete and ready-to-install, including posts, panels, cleats and spikes (or lag bolts). Installation is normally completed by a local contractor, often a commercial fence company, though PLYWALL® is well suited for installation by general contractors or maintenance personnel. No special skills or unique equipment is required.

A truck mounted auger works well for digging the post holes, with auger size varying with the post dimensions. Recommended backfill material is crushed stone, which provides excellent lateral support and allows the potential for relocation of the barrier. Concrete is not normally required. Posts are set on clear spacings, equal to panel width plus one and one quarter inch erection tolerance. The unique panel-to-post attachment method, using spiked or lagged 4"x 4" cleats to create a channel, provides an expansion joint and utilizes the exposed post face to add extra linear coverage.

Individual panels are lifted into place by hand or by crane using the built-in nylon loops at the top of each panel. One cleat is spiked or lagged to each post with the provided hot dipped ring shank spikes or lag bolts, after which a panel is swung into position and fixed by attachment of the opposing cleats. This method means the panels do not have to be lowered from the top of the posts. Holes are pre-drilled in each cleat for spikes or lag bolts, saving time and measuring for the installer. Trimming the top of the posts and cutting of the nylon straps completes the installation.

Field modifications are easily performed to accommodate odd span widths, terrain contours, and other site conditions where a standard panel will not fit.

PLYWALL® is engineered for customer-specified wind loading (PSF), with typical requirements ranging from 20-30 PSF, though up to 60 PSF is available at limited heights. PLYWALL® is adaptable to various heights, soils, climates, and terrains. Because of the warm natural appearance of wood and our specific design, our barrier system is aesthetically pleasing and well received by the public. Compared to other barriers, like concrete and steel, PLYWALL® has economical advantages, including material, repair, and installation costs.
